Stars Hollow House — Rules & Policies

We follow a moderate refund policy:

• Full refund if cancelled at least 5 days before check-in
• Partial refund if cancelled within 5 days of check-in

Please take a quick moment to review — this helps keep our 75+ year old home charming, peaceful, and guest-ready for everyone. Don't forget to read the house manual (the navy book on the counter) for restaurant recommendations, local suggestions, and everything you need to know. It's a real page-turner.

Check-in: 3:00 PM or later. Check-out: 10:00 AM. Need an early check-in or late check-out? Message us ahead of time — we'll do our best to make it work.

Before you leave: place used towels on the bathroom floor, leave beds unmade, remove personal belongings and food from the kitchen, wash dirty dishes and leave on the drying rack, return the key to the combination lockbox.

10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. This is a quiet street. We love our neighbors — and we want them to love you too.

Absolutely no smoking indoors — cigarettes, cigars, vaping, or any other substances. If smoking occurs inside or our cleaners detect smoke on arrival, an additional cleaning fee will be charged.

Well-behaved pets are welcome with prior approval and a pet fee. No pets on furniture, sofas, or beds. Please clean up after them in the yard. See the full pet liability disclaimer below.

No food in bed. Please don't rearrange furniture or remove décor — our hardwood floors are 75 years old and scratches are not a quick fix.

Guests must match the reservation count. Additional overnight guests will result in immediate termination of stay without refund. Don't make us evict you. Please. (We genuinely do not like conflict.)

This is a residential home in a quiet neighborhood. Parties, large gatherings, and events are not permitted. Violation may result in immediate termination of your stay without refund.

Use the kitchen freely. Wash all dishes and leave on the drying rack. Laundry detergent is provided.

Always lock doors. Do not tamper with smoke detectors or fire extinguishers. No open flames indoors.

Exterior security cameras are present at the front door. There are no cameras inside the home. Footage is used solely for security purposes.

If the key is lost or not returned to the lockbox at checkout, a replacement fee of $50 will be charged. If you lock yourself out during your stay, please contact us. A lockout fee may apply depending on timing.

Please place trash in the designated bins behind the house before checkout.

No glitter of any kind — craft, edible, confetti, or otherwise. This will result in an additional cleaning fee. Leave the home reasonably tidy. Park in designated spots only. Report any damage immediately.

Guests are financially responsible for damage beyond normal wear and tear. We will first seek resolution through the booking platform's damage protection program. If damages exceed that coverage, we reserve the right to pursue reimbursement directly. Accidents happen — just tell us, and we'll work through it together.

The host reserves the right to enter the property with reasonable notice for maintenance, emergencies, or inspections. In a genuine emergency, entry may occur without prior notice.

Guests stay at Stars Hollow House at their own risk. The host is not liable for any personal injury, accident, slip, fall, illness, loss of personal property, or damage to personal belongings that occurs on or around the property during your stay. This includes injuries in the yard, on stairs, in the bathroom, or involving pets.

We are not responsible for the safety of your pets. While we believe the yard is reasonably secure, we cannot guarantee it is escape-proof. Pets are permitted in the yard at your own risk. If your pet escapes, is injured, or causes injury to another person or animal while on the property, the host bears no responsibility. Please supervise your pets at all times.

By booking, you acknowledge and accept this full limitation of liability.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes will be handled in Smith County, Texas.

In the rare event the property becomes unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control — including natural disasters, severe weather, utility failures, or plumbing emergencies — we reserve the right to cancel your reservation with a full refund. We will notify you as soon as possible and do everything we can to help you find alternative accommodations.
